Payment integrations in Canada: what connects to your payments, and how.

An integration is the link between the software you run your business on and the account that takes your card payments. It decides whether a sale, a refund or a saved card moves on its own or has to be typed in twice. This page lists the software and point of sale routes we cover, how each one connects, and where each one stands today.

The short answer

  • The software company owns the connection. It builds the connector, documents what it does and decides when to retire it.
  • Status matters more than the logo. Built in, an add-on, a third-party connector and an ended integration behave very differently after a change.
  • A gateway is not an integration. The gateway carries the card sale; the integration ties it to your store, ERP or POS. See payment gateways for the gateway side.
  • Check before you change. Saved cards, recurring billing and refunds depend on the exact version you run. We confirm what carries over in writing first.

What the status labels mean

These four labels say how the software company documents the connection, and nothing else. A listing here is not a promise that CleverPays supports every setup; we confirm yours in writing.

StatusWhat it means
Built inThe software company ships the connection inside its own product or its own payments app
Official add-onAn extension listed on the software's own marketplace, maintained by a named developer
Through a connectorNo built-in option. A third-party connector or custom code joins the two
Support endedThe software company has retired the connection. Existing setups need a new route

Online stores and booking software

WooCommerce connects to Authorize.Net through an official add-on, while BigCommerce, HighLevel and Checkfront each build the connection in.

SoftwareGatewayStatusWhat its documentation covers
WooCommerceAuthorize.NetOfficial add-onSaved cards, authorize and capture, refunds and voids, Subscriptions
BigCommerceAuthorize.NetBuilt inOn its Canadian gateway list. A platform fee now applies to Authorize.Net orders
HighLevelAuthorize.NetBuilt inInvoices, order forms, payment links, subscriptions, refunds
CheckfrontAuthorize.NetBuilt inDeposits and later balances, 30-day holds, refunds, sandbox

Other gateways have their own connectors for these platforms. The gateways by software table lists which ones each platform documents.

ERP and business software

Cin7 Core and Brightpearl build Authorize.Net in, NetSuite needs a connector, and Acumatica ended its Authorize.Net support on 30 June 2025.

SoftwareGatewayStatusWhat its documentation covers
NetSuiteAuthorize.Net and othersThrough a connectorNo built-in Authorize.Net option. A third-party connector or custom code joins them
Cin7 CoreAuthorize.NetBuilt inPay links on quotes and invoices, B2B Portal payments, saved customer profiles
BrightpearlAuthorize.NetBuilt inThrough the Brightpearl Payments app. Payments on orders and customer accounts, capture on shipping, refunds
AcumaticaAuthorize.NetSupport endedAcumatica ended Authorize.Net support on 30 June 2025

NetSuite has its own section: Authorize.Net with NetSuite, reconciliation, CAD, USD and subsidiaries and Level 2 and 3 data.

Point of sale

A point of sale connects to payments in one of three ways, and which one you have decides what moves between the POS and the terminal on its own.

RouteWhat it meansPage
An existing supported connectionA connection the POS and payment provider already offer. We review its requirements and the functions it coversPOS compatibility
A separate payment stepA standalone terminal or another process outside the POS. Staff key the amount and reconcile separatelyPOS compatibility
A custom integration projectDevelopment where no product covers the requirement. Scope, access, testing and maintenance are agreed before work beginsPOS compatibility

For the terminals and software behind these routes, see semi-integrated POS and integrated POS.

Where CleverPays fits

The software company builds and maintains each connector. The gateway company runs the gateway. The company that processes your card payments approves and settles them. CleverPays makes none of the software on this page.

We can read your setup and name each part: the software, its version, the connector, the gateway and the account behind it. We can tell you what a change would affect, in writing, before anything moves. Where we can set up the account, we will say so; where a custom project is needed, we will scope it with you first.

Common questions

It is the connection between your business software, such as an online store, an ERP or a point of sale, and the account that takes card payments. It decides what moves on its own: the sale, the refund, the saved card, the deposit record.

Not sure what your software connects to?

Send us the name and version of your software, or a screenshot of its payment settings. We name each part, check the setup and tell you plainly what can change.
